Power in the Potty Break

Sometimes we get caught up in comparison or implied standards and can miss the point entirely. There are women I know who spend hours of each day worshipping and spending dedicated time in God’s presence. This has led me to feeling envious or even guilty for not making time to be more intentional. Admittedly, I’ve gone full days without conversation with God because I was caught up in the busyness of the day. One day, as I was shame spiraling on this topic, God reminded me of something. There is no time requirement for prayer. He only asks that we show up to talk with Him, even if it’s just for a few moments at a time. He longs for us to come to Him frequently and unfiltered.

I came up with a plan to make sure I’m talking to Him more consistently when I’m in a busy season of life. I’m hoping this helps you too. As women, we statistically take 6-8 potty breaks per day. During my potty breaks, I like to close the door behind me and say a quick prayer just to check in with God. Sometimes it’s just a thank you and other times I toss in a request (usually for patience). Shifting to a place of gratitude in the breaks of our day can help us show up in a way that can reflect His light more efficiently. When you use this time to connect to God, there can be some serious power in the potty break.
